St. Joseph Dentistry Named Small Business of the Year
St. Joseph Dentistry Dentist and business owner, Charles Howenstine, D.D.S accepted Small Business of the Year honors tonight during the 2021 Business Recognition Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony. The virtual event, hosted by the Cornerstone Alliance, Women’s Business Center, and Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber, recognized 11 recipients for Organizational and Pandemic Excellence. Event winners were announced at Lake Michigan College Mendel Center’s Grand Upton Hall.
The Small Business of the Year category recognized St. Joseph Dentistry’s commitment to the following:
- Has built a reputation of exceeding customer/client expectations
- Has dedicated significant time and resources to bettering the community
- Creates a positive culture of employee benefits, talent development, diversity and inclusion practices, flexibility in sick-leave policies, and mentorship for its employees
- Achieved growth in jobs provided, sales made, services or products offered and territory served
- Demonstrated ability to survive during tough times
St. Joseph Dentistry owner, Charles Howenstine, DDS, credits his team of dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and office staff as the main reason behind this year’s nomination and honor. “I am truly humbled by this award,” says Dr. Howenstine , who started St. Joseph Dentistry in 2012. “2020 was a difficult year for many small businesses like ours. I am extremely grateful for the dedication of all of our team members who went above and beyond to serve the residents of southwest Michigan during this unprecedented time. From dental emergencies to routine check-ups, they were always there when our patients and needed them.”
Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber President & CEO, Arthur Havlicek explained the award’s significance, while personally presenting Dr. Howenstine with the honor. “The annual Small Business of the Year award is perhaps the most prestigious and coveted honor our chamber can bestow upon a growing enterprise in our community,” said Havlicek. “This year, the honor was ours as we recognized the team at St. Joseph Dentistry for their incredible growth, culture, customer service, and community impact. We are thrilled to call them members and are excited to support them as they continue to do what they do best – excel.”
